Game Description
Squares Battle is a strategy game played on a grid where players in each round claim a column of squares.
Basic Rules
Players can claim a column of squares by selecting column on the grid.
The winner is the player who occupies the most squares when the game ends.
Rounds & Actions
Each player can only claim one column of squares per round. After selecting a column, the player must confirm the action and click "Confirm Column" button within the time limit.
Every round has a time limit, and unconfirmed actions in time will trigger a random column selection by the system automatically. That is, if the time runs out, the system will automatically select a column for the player and confirm the action automatically.
Function Cards
Function cards are triggered only when both players select the same column in a round.
There are three types of function cards: Attack, Defense, and No-skill. No-skill card means no action and we also provide give-up button option for players.
Card Usage & Battle Resolution
Function cards are triggered only when both players choose the same column during a round.
The battle resolution follows the rules below:
| Player 1 | Player 2 | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Attack | No-skill | Attack wins, column claimed by Player 1 |
| No-skill | Attack | Attack wins, column claimed by Player 2 |
| Attack | Defense | Defense blocks, no claim |
| Defense | Attack | Defense blocks, no claim |
| Defense | Defense | Both defend, no claim |
| No-skill | No-skill | Both No-skill, no claim |
| Defense | No-skill | Divide evenly |
| No-skill | Defense | Divide evenly |
| ※Note: If the player chooses to play with an odd number of grids, when encountering a bisected column, there will be a square in the middle of that column that is not occupied by either player. | ||
| ※When a column must be split on an odd-sized grid (e.g., 5×5, 7×7, 9×9), the center square of that column remains unclaimed, and the remaining squares are divided evenly between both players. | ||
Matchmaking Rule
We only matchmaking with players who have the same "Difficulty" and "Grid Size" setting.
Single Player Mode
Play against an Robot opponent with adjustable difficulty levels (Easy, Normal, Hard, Expert).
The robot changes some strategic logic and random rates to make strategic choices based on difficulty.
Two-player battle mode(Random Matchmaking)
Matchmaking pairs you with another player online to compete in real time.
Both players select moves simultaneously; actions resolve after both confirm or when the timer ends.
Two-player battle mode(Designated Battle)
If you want to play a "Designated Battle" against someone you know, you must first check the "Designated Battle" option, set the same "Difficulty", "Grid Size"and "Game Mode", then press the "Get Battle Code" button.
In the code input field, enter the battle code you obtained from the website or a pre-generated battle code from an opponent.
Finally, press the "Start Game" button to begin the game.
Both players select moves simultaneously; actions resolve after both confirm or when the timer ends.
※ Battle codes are only valid for the first two players to use them, and the code is valid for 5-7 minutes. After the validity period, although you can still use the code to match with the specified player, there is no guarantee of a correct match or missing match.
Victory Conditions
The player who occupies all squares or controls the most after the final round will win. Or either player occupies or controls more than 50% of the total squares.
If both players occupies or controls the same number of squares, the match ends in a draw.
If both players have only one column option, and both players don't have any function card, the game will be forced to end, and the squares occupied by both sides will be calculated to determine the winner.
Server Limitations
This server has 2-4 independent game zones, each of which can accommodate up to 31,000 players online simultaneously. (The active player count displayed in each game zone is capped at 31,000 players.)
If the server is full, new matches or connections will be rejected until some players leave the server.
